How to DIY a Paint Strip Rug
It’s that time when I get to pop in and share with you a little something I’ve been working on. Today I veered away from wood and towards…rugs! Yay! And, I want to show you a fun way to diy your plain jane runner into a fabulous Paint Strip Rug.
This rug started out as a humble, inexpensive runner…
I used a primer on it to prep it for paint and taped it off into 4 equal parts…
This was a great way to get rid of some extra spray paint. I want to mention that although latex paint will work it takes ALOT of paint to cover. Spray paint works a bit better. And, it’s easier…score!
I used newspaper to cover the area next to where I was spraying and then sprayed the square. It would be fun to do a strip in an ombre look…lighter color to darker color. Also, because I was outside this dried remarkably quickly and I moved from square to square fairly rapidly.
When all of your squares are painted use white paint to add paint numbers and names. I was creative with mine and chose names like Lady Gaga and Passion Red. But, perhaps you are redoing a bedroom…you could use the actual paint colors in the room. How cool would that be??
Note: I chose to paint the lines in between the squares white because I had used a black primer (it was what I had). It would be pretty darn awesome if you used a white primer!
